Keeping everybody safe

Christian people are called to share the good news of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ and to demonstrate His love and care. As a church we seek to welcome all who wish to worship with us and to create a community in which everyone can feel safe and flourish. We recognise with sadness that across all denominations the church has not always been a safe place for everyone. We believe that every member has a part to play in creating a healthy and safe environment in which we recognise power imbalances, where there is mutual respect and people feel safe to ask questions and raise concerns.

Our commitment to Safeguarding

Our PCC and team leaders are committed to the support, nurture, protection and safeguarding of all, with special regard for the young and those who may be vulnerable. Being faithful to our call to share and live the gospel, compels us to take with the utmost seriousness the challenge of preventing abuse from happening and responding well to people who have been harmed. This means we will ensure that those who are employed or who volunteer to work with children, young people and adults who may be vulnerable are suitable for the role, that they know what the role entails and that they are supported in carrying it out. Our commitment to safeguarding is reflected in our policies and procedures which can be found here. These are based on current legislation together with the policies, procedures and guidance or the Church of England and the Diocese of Derby.
